THE SIXTH CYBERCHAMPIONS COMPETITION, 2025

The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has successfully hosted the sixth CyberChampions Competition that held on 6th February, 2025 at the University of Dodoma. This annual cybersecurity competition aims to develop young talent in digital security, equipping university students with essential skills to safeguarding cyberspace.

This year’s CyberChampions Competition attracted 697 student participants, of whom 247 progressed to the semi-finals. The semifinal was a six-hour challenge which resulted 50 finalists from four (4) universities who secured spots in the finals. 

Following the final competition, all participants were given certificates for participation, while the winners received certificates of achievement, laptops, and a fully paid cybersecurity certification course with an exam voucher as recognition of their outstanding performance. These awards were presented on 11th February, 2025, during the celebration of Internet Safer Day (SID).

The top three winners were male students from University of Dodoma (UDOM), Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA), and Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU). The fourth winner was a female student from UDOM.

The students competed in a variety of categories, including Web Application Hacking, Computer Forensics, Malware Analysis, Programming, Cryptography, Reverse Engineering, Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), and many more. This initiative aligns with the government’s digital economy agenda, emphasizing the significance of cybersecurity resilience in response to increased online threats.
